Biological Control and Bedbugs

BIOLOGICAL CONTROL OF BED BUGS

Biological Control is the use of natural methods that sometimes include parasites or natural predators to the target pest. In the case of the bedbug there has been studies on a fungus called Beauveria bassiana to control bedbugs.  Whenever bedbugs come into contact with this fungus they become infected and die in the span of roughly 6 days. When first exposed to the fungus the bedbugs carry it back to their hiding places and infect others in the vicinity, helping it spread even more and eventually killing them.
